Today was a beautiful day. 80 degrees at the hottest, and I spent a nice afternoon running some errands and going to our local Farmer’s Market. I picked up some golden zucchini, a huge local zebra zucchini, some eggplant, grass-fed ground beef and two filets from Stan’s Country Store (an affiliate of the Farmer’s Market), and some more tomatoes.
I sat reading on my back porch until my neighbor decided to mow the grass – he always does noisy things when I’m trying to relax. I’m almost finished with A Feast for Crows by George R. R. Martin. So awesome, although I’m getting a little tired of the Ironborn. I guess George has something in mind for them – I just keep imagining them as the pirates from Pirates of the Caribbean (the movie) with crabs and coral growing on their faces, and they just gross me out a little.
I slept late too, and it was wonderful. We had a late breakfast with 2 eggs over medium and some bacon. I’ll admit I missed sopping up the egg yolks with a piece of toast, but that’s ok! Made it through!
While the hubs was at his studio working on a personal project, I read and then decided to grill out. I grilled an eggplant and a the huge zucchini (they were about the same diameter). Olive oil and salt and pepper only, and I served it as a side dish. I made some kebabs with chicken (marinated with lime juice, cumin, garlic salt, and cayenne), onions, red bell pepper, and mushrooms. We were stuffed!
