Have you heard of Cards Against Humanity? Well, you should play it my friends. It is played like Apples to Apples, but the cards are mean and inappropriate. VERY FUNNY. So, some friends came over on Monday night for an impromptu party, and everything started out fine until we decided we were hungry and there wasn’t enough in our fridge for me to cook Paleo for everyone. Pizza was ordered. I agreed, only because I hadn’t had bread in 30+ days and thought it would be a treat.
Remember the vicious circle I created for myself? Well, it happened again. I threw caution to the wind and ate two pieces of pizza, then, thinking that I had already ruined myself for the day, I drank some beers. When I woke up (had to play hooky from work until lunchtime because I had stayed up entirely too late), I went straight to work but could only think about how hungry I was. I ate for the first and only time at a local Mexican place around 7:30 pm (shrimp salad, chips, salsa), and I feel absolutely horrible today, though not as bad as yesterday. Back on the wagon with a vengeance!
I love the idea of a cheat day… I’m still not there yet. I had two cupcakes yesterday from Kroger. Um, if you have a weakness for pretty cupcakes, just don’t even look in the bakery. Walk on past, head straight for the organic chicken and DON’T LOOK BACK!
But other than that (and my inability to quit alcohol), I’ve been doing pretty well! We still need to get together and have a Paleo dinner party sometime soon.
Kroger also has those good cookies… If you like chocolate, this week I made some dark chocolate bark from this recipe: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/dark-chocolate-macadamia-bark-sprinkled-with-sea-salt/
I used pistachios and dried cherries, and of course couldn’t find 85 – 90% cacao, so I just used the lowest sugar dark chocolate I could find. It’s all gone now, but totally worth it. Dark chocolate is good for you, right?
Yes, let’s do! I’m down!
