Cheating Haiku

Lazy Sunday.  Yes,

Chinese food.  A hamburger.

Hungover.  Regret.

So, as you can tell, I cheated on Sunday.  It is now Wednesday.  My stomach has been in knots since Sunday night, even though I haven’t cheated since then.

I think I should refrain from calling it “cheating.”  If Paleo/Primal is my lifestyle now and not a weight loss “diet”, it’s not really cheating but more like getting off track or, more severely, punishing myself.  I knew I shouldn’t have eaten what I did.  I knew I wouldn’t feel good.  What I didn’t know is that it would make me feel THIS BAD.  I have not slept well since Sunday, and I just can’t wait to even out again.

I found this Whole9 chart on “nutritional off-roading,” below.  I think that’s a good way to put it.  While of course you wouldn’t carry this around with you all the time (or maybe you would), one read through should stick in your mind and make you think about what you are putting in your body.  Could I have chosen differently on Sunday, even at the Chinese buffet?  Yes.  My hungover stomach wouldn’t have liked it at the time, but other options would have served the purpose of feeding me.  Instead, I’ve felt bloated for 3 days and just kind of sore all over.  Ugh.
